In this two-part episode, Check Your Brain's Tony Mazur first chats with Anika Orrock, author of the book The Incredible Women of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, a comprehensive look at the AAGPBL, which was around from 1943 to 1954. In part two of this podcast, Tony talks to former MLB infielder and MLB Network analyst Bill Ripken about his book, State Of Play: The Old School Guide to New School Baseball. "Billy" talks about the increased use of advanced stats in today's game and the effect it's having on the sport. Spoiler: Tony did NOT ask Ripken about his infamous baseball card, which he appreciated.
